Tagalog verbs are among the most fascinating – and challenging – aspects of the
language.
This intensive course provides a compact and structured overview of important
Tagalog verb systems and helps learners develop a deeper understanding of how
verb forms are created and used. The course is suitable both for learners who wish to
strengthen their foundations and for more advanced learners who would like to
review and consolidate their knowledge.
Topics include:
- Focus systems
- Aspect
- Verbal affixes
- Types of action
Completion of at least an A1.2 course or equivalent prior knowledge is required.

Our Instructors
Vincent Wongaiham-Petersen
Vincent Wongaiham-Petersen heads the Filipino language programme at the University of Hamburg and has been teaching Tagalog for many years at universities, in adult education, and in corporate training. He is also currently developing a comprehensive Tagalog coursebook for German-speaking learners.
Louena Orbista
Born in Manila and raised in Hamburg, Louena Orbista grew up with Tagalog alongside several other languages and has maintained a close connection to Filipino language and culture throughout her life. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Korean Studies at the University of Hamburg and has a particular interest in languages, cultures, and intercultural communication.
